you've got to start somewhere...

For years now, yes, YEARS... I have been fascinated by the word 'knit' in prose. I have long thought that it would be a chore fun to chronicle all of the sentences I have come across in literature that contain the word 'knit'. Now years later and many opportunities missed..."Why, that is an interesting sentence with 'knit' in it...I should write it down"...I am finally going to do it. One has to start somewhere and even if I had started years ago, I still would have had many missed opportunities up to that point too.

A long time coming

So here goes.

I am currently reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.  Before that I read Night Rounds by Helene Tursten.  In Night Rounds there was a sentence with 'knit' in it but I wasn't ready to commit.  That was yesterday and this is today.  I read the following sentence whilst in my bubble bath and decided THIS IS IT.

"They knit their brows together and pretend to think of men they can set me up with, but we all know there's no one left, no good one left, and I know that they secretly think there's something wrong with
me, something hidden away that makes me unsatisfiable, unsatisfying".   Amy

  1. I had no idea this is something you wanted to do! But it's a wonderful idea and I also notice certain words, "knit" being one of them. And of course you know there is a Bob Dylan song that has the word "knits" in it... name that tune! xox

and this is a very pretty blog... love what you've done with the place!
